Lea Jansen

Lea Jansen is one of the most fiery and exciting players on the PPA Tour, known for her competitiveness and intense on-court persona. She grew up in Spokane, Washington, competing in tennis from age 8 and becoming the top-ranked player in the Pacific Northwest across every age group. She played college tennis at Washington State University for two years before transferring and becoming conference player of the year and a first-team NAIA All-American. She holds a degree in accounting and an MBA in healthcare management.

It was her childhood friend Tyson McGuffin who convinced Jansen to try pickleball during the summer of 2019, and she began touring full-time at the start of 2021. She's since relocated to Austin to train with other pros, picking up multiple PPA gold medals along the way. Jansen credits her coach Jim Costello and his Neuro-Fit Systems program, which strengthens neural pathways between the left and right sides of the brain. As a type 1 diabetic, she enjoys cooking and experimenting with sugar-free baking. She also loves her dogs, skiing, hiking, and snowshoeing - true Pacific Northwest style.
