Jack Sock is what happens when a legitimate tennis star decides pickleball looks more fun. A former world #8 in tennis, Olympic gold medalist in mixed doubles, and four-time Grand Slam doubles champion, Sock retired from tennis in 2023 to go all-in on pickleball. He made his pro debut at the PPA North Carolina Open and promptly won mixed doubles gold with Anna Leigh Waters, because apparently he's just good at racquet sports in general. He plays for the Brooklyn Pickleball Team in MLP, and is sponsored by Selkirk, using their LUXX and AMPED Pro Air paddles.

Follow Sock on Instagram @jack.sock. What makes Sock special in pickleball is the same thing that made him electric in tennis doubles: ridiculous hands, creative shot-making, and a personality that loves entertaining crowds. He's described the transition as capturing "all of the things I enjoyed from tennis" while letting him "play like a child" with "positivity and exuberance."

Fun Fact
In one of his first pickleball practice sessions, he tried to rip a full-speed tennis-style shot with some deception and the ball went straight into the fence. The kitchen line is closer than the baseline, it turns out.

"Pickleball captures all of the things I enjoyed from tennis. The hand battles, the precise shots. It's a joy."
