Ryan Fu

Ryan Fu is a 25-year-old professional pickleball player who made the leap from Division I college tennis to the PPA Tour in dramatic fashion. The Boston native played tennis at the University of Michigan before transferring to Bryant University, but a shoulder injury forced him to rethink his path. After earning his MBA at Bryant, a conversation with a childhood friend led him to pack up and move to Florida to pursue professional pickleball, despite having zero competitive experience in the sport.

Now ranked among the world's top 50, Fu trains in Florida alongside about 20 of the world's top 30 players. His tennis background gives him serious advantages in hand speed and net reactions, and the sport is much easier on his surgically repaired shoulder. Beyond competing in tournaments with six-figure prize pools, Fu has built a media business around the sport with roughly 15,000 social media followers, leaning into humor and personality to stand out. He generates income through sponsorships, lessons, online coaching content, and his growing brand.
