Maxwell Freeman

Max Freeman is a 26-year-old left-handed pro pickleball player from Delray Beach, Florida, who made a rapid jump from college tennis at Vanderbilt to the PPA Tour. A top tennis recruit ranked as high as 12th nationally in his high school class, Freeman played five years at Vanderbilt (extended by COVID) and reached a collegiate doubles ranking of No. 19 with George Harwell. After graduating, he moved to Florida to train with former Vanderbilt teammate James Ignatowich and Ryan Fu, and the transition to pickleball was on.

Freeman debuted on the pro circuit in April 2024 at the APP Delray Beach Open and quickly showed he could hang with the best. He and Casey Diamond upset Tyson McGuffin and Jaume Martinez Vich 11-5, 11-2 at PPA Virginia Beach, and he's battled Ben Johns in singles. He plays for the LA Mad Drops in MLP after being drafted 10th overall, and made headlines when he famously dropped Ben Johns as a doubles partner for the PPA Cape Coral Open. With a two-handed backhand and lefty angles that give opponents fits, Freeman is one of the most exciting young talents climbing the PPA ranks.
