Joey Farias is a veteran professional pickleball player and one of the sport's early adopters from the competitive tennis world. Based in Port St. Lucie, Florida, Farias was working as a full-time tennis coach in Lansing, Michigan, when he first picked up a paddle at a club with four pickleball courts. There, he was introduced to the game by Dan O'Toole and DJ Howard, and found himself learning alongside future stars like Simone Jardim. His tennis pedigree translated quickly to the pickleball court, and by 2016 he was medaling at the US Open, earning bronze in 19+ mixed doubles with Catherine Parenteau. The following year, he partnered with a then-emerging Ben Johns to win bronze in men's doubles pro at the US Open and gold at the Northwest PPF Bend tournament.
Known for his deceptive shot-making, one-handed backhand drive, and steady dinking from the right side, Farias brings a crafty, old-school style to the pro tour. He is an IPTPA-certified instructor who has served as Director of Pickleball at clubs in both Tucson, Arizona, and Florida, dedicating his career to growing the sport through coaching and competition. With over 30 professional tournaments and 165+ career matches under his belt, Farias remains a respected competitor and mentor in the pickleball community.
