Nicolas "Nico" Acevedo is a Chilean-born pro who traded in his tennis racket for a pickleball paddle and hasn't looked back. Born in Concepcion, Chile, Acevedo came to the U.S. for college tennis, playing at Wichita State from 2019 to 2022 where he posted a solid 27-18 singles record, then transferred to Florida Atlantic University for his senior year. At FAU he won an ITA South Regional doubles title, proving he could compete at the highest collegiate level. After wrapping up his tennis career, Acevedo found his way to pickleball and quickly started making noise on the APP Tour circuit.

Now based in Boca Raton, Florida, the 24-year-old right-hander has been racking up results across men's doubles, mixed doubles, and singles. He grabbed a gold medal in men's doubles with Johnny Goldberg at the APP Tour Vlasic Classic in Delray Beach and has posted strong showings at events from Sacramento to Punta Gorda. At 5'8" and 155 pounds, Acevedo isn't the biggest guy on court, but his tennis-honed footwork and competitive fire more than make up for it. With a background that includes junior ITF titles and an upset over an ATP-ranked player as a teenager, this is a guy who has been punching above his weight class his entire career.
