Dave "The Badger" Weinbach is one of the most decorated and beloved players in pickleball history. A Wisconsin native and Certified Financial Planner by trade, Weinbach discovered pickleball in 2007 when he heard a racket coming from some courts while playing tennis in Surprise, Arizona. Before that, he was a lifelong tennis player (starting at age 4) and an elite table tennis competitor who even trained as a US Olympic table tennis candidate. Once he picked up a pickleball paddle, there was no going back.
Weinbach has amassed an incredible collection of hardware, including multiple USAPA National Championships, numerous US Open titles, and back-to-back US Open Pro Men's Doubles crowns with Kyle Yates. Known for his signature slice spin technique and a patient, consistency-first playing style, he uses his "Respect the Net" philosophy to outmaneuver opponents half his age. Beyond competing, Weinbach is a passionate ambassador for the sport through his "Spread the Love Tour," traveling the country to run clinics and teach proper fundamentals. He has his own signature Paddletek paddle and a line of apparel, and his entire family plays, with all the Weinbach men winning gold at a 2018 tournament in Rockford, Illinois.
