Austin Gridley is a Houston-based pro who took one of the more unusual paths to competitive pickleball: ping pong. A former table tennis competitor, Gridley made the jump to pickleball around 2019 and quickly climbed into the pro ranks, earning wins against top-tier talent including Ben Johns and Collin Johns along the way. He previously ranked inside the top 20 in both men's and mixed doubles, competing in PPA and APP events with standout results like a bronze medal match at the 2023 US Open and quarterfinals at the 2024 APP Sacramento Open.
Now semi-retired from full-time touring, Gridley serves as Head Pro at Casa Pickle and offers coaching through Utah Pickleball Coaching. He runs an active YouTube channel where he posts daily pickleball content, skills training, and behind-the-scenes looks at the pro game. His December 2024 audition video showcasing improved forehand drives, topspin volleys, and backhand dinks generated buzz in the community. Whether he returns to full-time competition or stays focused on growing the game through coaching and content, Gridley's blend of athleticism and creativity keeps him relevant in the pickleball world.
