Rob Nunnery is a pro pickleball player, coach, and founder of PicklePro Training who has proven that grit counts for more than talent. A former college tennis standout at UNC Asheville, where he earned two-time first team All-Big South honors and was a two-year captain, Nunnery picked up pickleball in late 2019 and turned pro in 2020. He quickly became one of the top players on the APP Tour, ranking #1 on the tour in both 2023 and 2024, and has collected 19 pro titles along the way. He was a member of the Brooklyn Aces in Major League Pickleball and co-hosts the It Feels Right podcast alongside Adam Stone.
What makes Nunnery's story truly remarkable is what he's been competing through. Diagnosed with perianal Crohn's disease in 2022, he played through chronic pain for years before undergoing colostomy surgery in February 2025. The procedure brought significant relief after competing through serious discomfort that most people couldn't imagine. Now based in Kihei, Hawaii, Nunnery signed a 3-year deal with the PPA Tour and continues to compete at the highest level while channeling his "train smarter" philosophy through PicklePro Training. He's sponsored by Selkirk Sport and remains a vocal advocate for pickleball's growth and potential Olympic inclusion.
