Anderson Scarpa's path to pro pickleball is one of the most unlikely in the sport. A former Division I tennis player at Mercer University, Scarpa was working as a court resurfacer in Charleston, South Carolina, when he stumbled into pickleball in 2020. The irony of literally building courts before competing on them isn't lost on anyone. By 2023, he went full-time pro, and the grind has paid off with standout moments like pulling off a triple crown at the PPA New England Challenger, winning men's doubles, mixed doubles, and singles at the same event.
Scarpa has bounced around MLP teams like a true journeyman, suiting up for the Arizona Drive, California Black Bears, Las Vegas Night Owls, Texas Ranchers, NY Hustlers, Atlanta Bouncers, and Nashville Chefs. He often partners with Greg Dow and has tested himself against the best, including Ben Johns and other top-ranked players. At 6'1" and 32 years old, Scarpa brings a relentless work ethic and a story that reminds everyone that sometimes the best path to the top starts with resurfacing the bottom.
