Ben Newell

Ben Newell, known as "Benny Bombs" on tour, is a left-handed powerhouse from Kansas City, MO who brings fast hands, raw speed, and enough power to justify the nickname. Originally from Topeka, KS, Newell played college tennis doubles alongside his twin brother before a tennis injury led him to discover pickleball at Chicken N Pickle, the popular Kansas City entertainment venue that would eventually sponsor him as part of their pro team.

Newell has logged over 200 career matches across 44+ professional tournaments on the PPA and APP tours, and was selected as a star pick for the Hyderabad Royals in the Indian Pickleball League in 2025. Beyond playing, he's also an entrepreneur: he created Pickle Podz, a device for securely transporting pickleballs. When he's not competing, you can find him working for Nike, playing disc golf, or spending time with his wife Yana (formerly Yana Grechkina), who he met at, naturally, Chicken N Pickle.
