Ly Hoang Nam is Vietnam's most decorated tennis player turned pickleball competitor. A former ATP-ranked pro who peaked at world No. 231 in singles, Nam made history in 2015 when he won the Wimbledon Boys' doubles title alongside India's Sumit Nagal, becoming the first Vietnamese player to claim a Grand Slam trophy. Over his tennis career he collected 11 ITF titles, two SEA Games gold medals, and represented Vietnam in Davis Cup with an impressive 25-10 record. In March 2025, he announced he was stepping away from tennis to focus on pickleball full-time.

Nam's transition to the paddle sport has been remarkably smooth. Since late 2024, he's racked up six men's doubles titles on the Vietnamese domestic circuit with partner Trinh Linh Giang, including the 2025 national under-35 championship. He quickly climbed the PPA Tour rankings to reach world No. 19 by October 2025, with quarterfinal and semifinal finishes at PPA Tour Asia events in Vietnam. Originally from Tay Ninh province, Nam started playing tennis at age seven and turned professional at just nine years old. Now he's bringing that same early-starter energy to pickleball, with plans to compete across Asia, Europe, and America.
