How the 2025-26 PPA Tour Season Works
The PPA Tour now operates on a fall-to-spring season rather than a calendar year. The current 2025-26 season started in June 2025 and runs through May 2026, culminating in the PPA Finals. The tour then pauses for the MLP team season (May–August) before the 2026-27 season kicks off August 31 with the Veolia Pickleball National Championships.
Events are organized into tiers based on ranking points and prestige:
- Worlds — The Pickleball World Championships (3,000 points) — the biggest event of the season
- Slams — Major events worth 2,000 points (The Masters, Atlanta Championships)
- Cups & Opens — Regular tour stops with pro and amateur draws (1,000–1,500 points)
- Challengers — Regional events that serve as a pathway to the pro tour (250 points)
- PPA Finals — Season-ending championship for top-ranked players (2,000 points)

Marquee Events to Watch in 2026
🏆 The Masters — Rancho Mirage, CA (Jan 12–18) ✅
The Masters is one of only three Slam-level events on the PPA Tour, held at a premier desert venue in the Coachella Valley. With 2,000 ranking points on the line, this is where the season's storylines begin. The 2026 edition has already wrapped — and it made history with a live CBS broadcast that became the most-viewed pickleball event on any network, peaking at over 1 million viewers.
🎉 US Open Pickleball Championships — Naples, FL (Apr 11–18)
The US Open celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2026. Held at East Naples Community Park, it's known as "The Biggest Pickleball Party in the World" and features both pro and amateur divisions across a full week of competition. This isn't a PPA Tour stop — it's its own standalone major, and it's a bucket-list event for every pickleball player. The 2025 event drew over 55,000 spectators and 3,400 players from all 50 states and 40 countries.
⭐ Atlanta Pickleball Championships — Peachtree Corners, GA (Apr 27–May 3)
The Atlanta Championships is the final Slam before the PPA Finals, making it a critical event for players chasing ranking positions. Expect the most intense competition of the spring stretch as players make their last push for Finals qualification.
🏅 PPA Finals — San Clemente, CA (May 4–10)
The season-ending championship returns to Life Time Rancho San Clemente. Only the top-ranked players qualify, making this the most exclusive and highest-stakes event on the calendar. The 2025-26 champion will be crowned here.
🇺🇸 USA Pickleball National Championships — San Diego, CA (Oct 31–Nov 8)
The National Championships returns to Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego for 2026. Organized by USA Pickleball (the sport's national governing body), Nationals is the largest amateur championship in pickleball, drawing thousands of competitors across all age groups and skill levels. It runs for nine days and includes gold, silver, and bronze medal brackets. Registration uses a tiered system — Golden Ticket winners from qualifying tournaments get priority access.
🆕 Powerball Pickleball State Championship Series
Big news announced on February 9, 2026: Powerball is now the official title sponsor of the PPA's State Championship Series, rebranding it as the Powerball Pickleball State Championship Series.
Here's what you need to know:
- 55+ tournaments across all 50 U.S. states (some states host multiple events)
- Amateur players compete for state champion titles in their home state
- Gold medalists earn automatic qualification into special state champion brackets at the Pickleball World Championships in November
- The main court at the World Championships will be named the Powerball Championship Court
- Events include multiple age groups (10U through 80+) and skill divisions (2.5 through 5.0+)
- Events are already underway — check pickleballtournaments.com for state-specific registration
PPA Tour founder Connor Pardoe called the partnership a milestone for grassroots pickleball, noting that the State Championship Series is designed to give amateur players a direct pathway to the sport's biggest stage. Whether you're a 3.5 player in Iowa or a 5.0 player in Texas, this series gives you a shot at competing at Worlds.
