Kyle "Ky" McMakin, known on tour as the "Pickleball Cowboy," is a professional pickleball player from San Diego who brings over 20 years of racquet sport experience to the court. A former Division I tennis player at UC Davis and an identical twin, McMakin made the jump to pickleball and quickly established himself as a force in the 5.0+ ranks, capturing two Triple Crowns (sweeping singles, doubles, and mixed at a single event) and a 5.0 35+ Men's Doubles National Championship.
McMakin has also tasted success at the pro level, earning a PPA Bubly Men's Doubles Championship and two Minor League Pickleball titles, including the 2023 Minor League Div. 22 National Championship. Now 38, he serves as Head Pro at LevelUp Pickleball Camps and contributes instructional content to Pickleball Magazine. He plays with a Trinity Ethos paddle and brings a coaching-first mentality to everything he does, making him one of those rare players who can break down the game as well as he plays it.
